نظرة عامة على البلد

In Mali Rooted in Trust is working to address the impacts of pandemic related information with internally displaced persons and host communities in the regions of Timbuktu, Mopti, Sikasso, Ségou, Gao and in the District of Bamako. These areas have a high concentration of IDPs or represent preferred routes for displaced people.

The findings from the Internews’ 2021 Information Ecosystem Assessment in Mali entitled “Find the link: Information dynamics of displaced communities in Mali during COVID-19” show IDPs and host communities have multiple information access barriers and health and protection-related information needs that are exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing multidimensional crisis.

We are working alongside AMSODE and Doniblog.

ال Malian Association for Solidarity and Development (AMSODE) is a local NGO implementing humanitarian and development programs across the country, especially with vulnerable and marginalized populations. In the RiT project, AMSODE is focusing on listening and engaging IDP and host communities in face-to-face and participatory activities.

دونبلوغ is a local community of bloggers and web activists which advocates and promotes active citizenship, press freedom, governance, democracy, social innovation through blogging and social media use. Doniblog is actively listening to social media and engaging in conversations with online communities.

We’re producing resources for humanitarian communicators and media. We are liaising with humanitarian, community and media stakeholders working in the COVID-19 response. We are participating in different activities with coordination groups, such as humanitarian clusters, the AAP Group, the Communication Sub Commission on COVID-19 and vaccination (Cniecs), the Population Movement Commission, among others. At regional level, we take part in RCCE and CwC activities with media outlets, CSOs and humanitarian agencies.

We have created peer to peer WhatsApp networks to support local media, community radios and journalists to connect, share experiences and produce in local languages relevant and timely information addressing specific health-related communities’ needs.
