In Iraq Rooted in Trust is working to address the impacts of pandemic-related information generally all over Iraq, and in specific, IDP camps in Erbil and Duhok governorates.
Over 670,000 internally displaced people IDPs are living in 25 camps across Iraqi Kurdistan region. Most of the IDPs in northern provinces are Sunni Arabs, Ezidis and Christians.

- O Fundação de Caridade Barzani (BCF) is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization that was founded in 2005 in Erbil.
- KirkukNow is an Independent electronic news website that publishes stories and events taking place within or relevant to Iraq’s disputed territories, with the aim of promoting coexistence in those areas and providing easy access to information.
- Tech 4 Peace is purely a humanitarian mission to reduce the spread of violence and terrorism by reporting websites & social media pages that spread false news/propaganda promoting violence/terrorism – we focus these services on unstable regions, mostly in the middle east (such as Iraq) – which is our current focus at present.
We’re producing resources for humanitarian communicators and media. We are participating in (Health cluster monthly meetings with WHO, COVID-19 Taskforce meetings runs by WHO, UNICEF RCC meeting and GBV working group in Erbil). We have created a peer-to-peer network for journalists all over Iraq through a WhatsApp group. To join the group please contact [email protected].

Information Deprivation During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Information Ecosystem Assessment of Internally Displaced Persons in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq During the COVID-19 Pandemic
This Information Ecosystem Assessment (IEA) discusses the information dynamics amongst Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in camps in Iraqi Kurdistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. The focal concern of the IEA is the information supply and demand landscape looking specifically at how communities find, produce, consume, and share information from different sources and the barriers they encounter in doing so.
